| EAST MEETS WEST n June of 1992, Larry McEntire returned home from a business trip in Florida to find that his wife of 14 years had moved out of their home, taking their three children and most of the furnishings. Before the divorce was granted, she moved her boyfriend in with herself and their children and went on to marry him 30 days after the divorce was granted, the legal minimum in the state of Texas. From start to finish, all of this took place in a little less than five months. This has been an all too common story in our society the past 25 years with no end in sight. Presently we are experiencing a 68% divorce rate in the U.S., and every trend points to the probability that it will get worse before it gets any better. eing out of the dating scene for over 14 years, McEntire joined two dating clubs in Dallas spending over $3,000 without getting any dates from one and only two dates from the other. In January of 1993, he founded Matchmakers of America in Plano and tried for several months to find the type of young women in the Dallas area for his clients that he had been looking for himself but was unable to do so, and finally closed down and gave up. | Remember- ing the friendliness of the Filipino people when he had traveled there on the way to Viet Nam while in the Marine Corps, he arranged to make a trip to explore the opportunities there for single men and was able to find his future wife Beth, a college senior at the time, and as they say, "the rest is history." He and Beth since their marriage have been helping other American men find their lifetime partners in the Philippines through their Plano-based company, the Princess Registry. They make their home in Plano and Camiguin Island, balancing their time back and forth two months at a time. We're not a pen-pal club, and don't conduct guided tours," says McEntire. "Instead, we help each of our clients individually find the young woman they have been dreaming about spending the rest of their life with." Their unique service is the only one of its kind in the United States, in as much as they, through the use of 60 agents in the Philippines, publish the portfolio of their clients and have the young women who are interested in them write first. "There are two major mistakes that men make when trying to find a wife overseas,' says McEntire. "While they're making them they have no idea what they are." | ne mistake is that men write to young women who aren't interested in them or someone that will receive 500 or more letters from men like them during the next 90 days. At the Princess Registry, the table are turned by having the young women write to their clients first, which keeps them from writing someone that they never had a chance with. "With our system, our client is halfway home before he writes his first letter," McEntire says, "because he never sees the young women until they have seen his picture, know all about him, and are interested in a relationship with a view toward marriage. "One of our successful clients is 50 years old, received over 800 letters in just five months, and is presently planning a trip to the Philippines to visit several of them." The Princess Registry helps its clients to believe that their best days are ahead of them, not behind them. "Clients range from truck drivers to surgeons who may have their future slightly out of focus as a result of a divorce or many years of being unsuccessful in finding that special person," says McEntire. "By introducing them to hundreds of prospects, we help them get a clear view of what they really want out of life. "And you'd be surprised how many men in the United States 35 years old and older that have never been married. It seems they wake up one morning with a great business or professional practice and feel empty and unfulfilled. That's when they call us, and within a year in most cases, they're married to a beautiful young woman from the Philippines." Their clients range in age from 20 to 79, so it seems all ages qualify and benefit from their service. |
